Biography[]
Terry was a star football player who gave up a lucrative NFL contract to go to medical school. At the start of season 4, he is a third-year medical student who is starting his clinical rotation.
Early on, he is very unsure of himself, hesitating to make diagnoses and struggling with common procedures, and even wondering out loud whether giving up his sports career to go to medical school was a mistake. Over time, he becomes more confident in his skills.
In the Season 4 episode We Hold These Truths, he and Ethan Choi treat a male patient who repeatedly makes passes at Ethan. After finding excuses not to have to go into his treatment room, Ethan admits to Terry that he is uncomfortable with men making passes at him. This leads to Terry revealing to Ethan that he is gay, much to Ethan's surprise. Terry adds that it was already common knowledge in the ED, but Ethan had apparently been oblivious up to that point.
