Season one[]
Choices[]
Sal and Bailey arrive at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center after learning that Jennifer had been brought in after collapsing at a coffee shop while getting breakfast for her family. He instructs Dr. Manning about Jen’s Do not resuscitate (DNR), adding that he has power of attorney over his wife.
After Jen is stable, Dr. Halstead confirms her diagnosis and her DNR in place. He later steps in to talk to her about a clinical trial for lymphoma, conducted by Stewart and Breck pharmaceutical. He’s asked by Jen to take Bailey outside while she refuses being enrolled in the trial.
Dr. Halstead then finds him in the waiting room getting Jen a can of Pop, saying that it makes her feel better when she’s nauseous. Dr. Halstead tells him to try to talk to Jen about enrolling her in the trial. He says he’ll try.
Jennifer then falls into ventricular fibrillation. A code blue is called over the hospital PA. Sal says she wouldn’t agree to the trial. Dr. Halstead asks to resuscitate. Dr. Manning reminds him of her DNR. He adds she should’t have to die. Bailey begs her father to agree, but he keeps being hesitant. Dr. Halstead resuscitates anyway for the sake of their daughter.
After Jen’s stable, Dr. Halstead goes to check on her. Sal says he wants to be alone and Dr. Halstead left.
Intervention[]
They are gathered in Sharon Goodwin’s office. Peter Kalmick disagrees with the lawsuit’s terms, saying it’s too much. Alisa — Jen’s lawyer — says that if they thought that still, they’d go to court. Sharon tries to find a compromise, but Alisha says they can’t because Jen will be hooked up to wires and tubes with no end in sight due to the violation of her DNR.
Guilty[]
When Dr. Halstead calls the elevator to his floor, he meets the Bakers. Sal and Jen stare at him, with Jen’s face being angry. Their daughter innocently says “hi”. Dr. Halstead says he’ll catch the next one.
