Biography[]
Jennifer Baker had been suffering from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma — diagnosed 4 years before the events of Season 1. She had had enough of the drugs and gets a Do not resuscitate (DNR) in place.
Season one[]
Choices[]
In Choices, she is brought in by paramedics unresponsive. Her husband Sal Baker and her daughter Bailey Baker come in the hospital. Mr. Baker tells Dr. Manning that Jennifer wishes to not be resuscitated.
After she's alert again, they tell her they'd like to admit her, but she declines, stating that she feels like she'll be there forever if they do.
Dr. Halstead tells her about a clinical trial for lymphoma and tells her they can admit her. She refuses saying that the drugs make her weak and sick.
She then falls into cardiac arrest. Dr. Halstead resuscitates her against her DNR for the sake of Bailey. After she's resuscitated, Dr. Halstead goes to check on her and tells her husband that they can start the process of admitting her into the trial.
Sharon Goodwin disciplines Dr. Halstead for her resuscitation. Dr. Manning is named as her primary. Jennifer is then admitted to the medical intensive care unit (MICU). Ms. Goodwin tells Dr. Halstead to stay away from Jennifer and her family.
Intervention[]
Peter Kalmick states that they can't agree with the lawsuit's terms. Alisha — Jen's lawyer — says if the hospital thinks it's too much still, they will got to court. Ms. Goodwin asks if they can put this behind them. Her lawyer says “no” to that that she will be hooked up to wires and tubes with no visible end due to Dr. Halstead violating her DNR.
Dr. Halstead asks Zoe Roth for updates on Jennifer. Zoe takes him to the clinical trial wing and gives him a good report. Ms. Goodwin once again
Guilty[]
Peter Kalmick cannot hesitate about Sal's wishes whether Jen should live or die. Peter says they have a good case since Jennifer is enrolled in a life-saving drug trial, which is not the behavior of a person who wants do die. Ms. Goodwin asks Peter for an approach that will protect both the doctor's integrity and their case. Their discussion is interrupted by a phone call to Ms. Goodwin.
She is seen with her family in an elevator by Dr. Halstead. Bailey says “hi” and he says he'll catch the next one.
Dr. Halstead uses Dr. Rhodes' credentials to log into the hospital's system and look into Jennifer's medical chart. He finds out that she is on a placebo. He tells Zoe the news and goes to the clinical trial wing to inform her, only to be stopped by Dr. Rhodes.
