Background[]

Dylan has a sister named Zora Scott and his father is Reginald Scott. They are both police officers with the Chicago Police Department. He was very close to his father who walked and brought him sandwiches from a restaurant while he was in medical school.

He dated Carmen Walker when he was younger, which later caused problems between himself and Carmen's current husband, Terrell, Dylan's former friend.

Dylan was a police officer like his father and sister, but he eventually quit to go to medical school and become a doctor.

Biography[]

Dylan was frequently conflicted between his current role as a physician and his former role as a police officer. His inability to resolve this conflict led him to leave Gaffney at the start of Season 8.

Season 7[]

You Can't Always Trust What You See[]

Dylan is introduced treating a young boy with a snake bite. Using his past experience as a police officer, he quickly realizes the bite was from a gang initiation ritual, and he counsels the boy to stay on the straight path. Dr. Hammer asks Dylan to consult on the case of a young girl named Jasmine Russell who is extremely lethargic. They quickly discover that she suffered a stroke due to sickle cell anemia, and when they question her mother about whether Jasmine has had any of the required preventative care they quickly realize that the family is a victim of bias in the medical field because most children with sickle cell anemia are African-American and therefor receive less attentive care. When Jasmine's mother Aleesha collapses while trying to stand up and is discovered to have severe arthritis, Dr. Hammer impresses Dylan by deducing that Jasmine has been sleeping in her car to survive.

Scott and Dr. Charles deal with a UNICEF negotiator with repressed trauma.

Status Quo, aka the Mess We're In[]

He notices a gathered crowd and police officers dealing with a man. Dylan recognizes him as Roland Baxter, a long-time patient who was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia. He begs the cops to let him talk the manic Rolan down and he is successful, with the crowd amazed by his action and recording him as a hero.

Change Is a Tough Pill to Swallow[]

Scott and Dr. Charles treat patients suffering from glass child syndrome and misdiagnosed ADHD.
