Dr. Caitlin Lenox is the Head of the Emergency Department at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. She is portrayed by Sarah Ramos.
Personality[]
Caitlin is extremely strict with rules and regulation, carrying a no-nonsense approach, and has a near obsession with efficiency, suggesting that she may be on the autism spectrum. This was also evidenced by the fact that she knew exactly how to calm an autistic child who was having a meltdown. She was in the Army, giving her a tough personality and problem solving skills. She cares for people but hides it very well. She also mentions that she isn't good with emotion, and that she was very blunt as a child, which she was ostracized for.
Season 10[]
With Jackson Monroe Hospital closing, Caitlin is brought over to Med by Sharon Goodwin to be co-head of the Emergency Department alongside Dean Archer. The two immediately start to butt heads.
Halfway through the season, Goodwin promotes Caitlin to be the sole head of the Emergency Department, and demotes Dean back to Attending Physician.
Despite her sometimes overly strict adherence to rules and procedures, Caitlin is quickly shown to be a tough but capable leader who is dependable in a crisis.
Caitlin doesn't tolerate mistakes or cracking under pressure, especially when a patients life is at risk. She proved that when she fired Zach Hudgins for abandoning a patient during a procedure. This sparked a feud between her and Archer.
In The Book of Archer, she reveals to Dean Archer that she and Kip are at risk of getting GSS, also known as Gerstmann-Straussler-Scheinker, the same disease that their mother died from.
In Don't You Cry, it's revealed that she tested positive for GSS. Leaving her Severely upset and breaking down.
