Biography[]

Ben meets Maggie in the chemotherapy ward where they are both receiving treatment. They become romantically involved and get married in The Ghosts of the Past.

In Just a River in Egypt, Ben and Maggie adopt Auggie Roberts as their foster son. Auggie is eventually moved to another foster family that had already adopted his biological brother. (verification needed)

When Maggie reconnects with her daughter Vanessa's biological father Grant Young, Maggie and Ben become estranged and at the start of Season 9 Maggie reveals that Ben has asked for a divorce.

Ben and Maggie attempt mediation for their divorce and quarrel over who gets to keep their cat Jasper, with Maggie eventually storming out. At the end of the episode. Maggie gives Ben the cat, saying he was right about who should get to keep him.
